The BMI (Body Mass Index) is simply a chart that is designed to take into consideration your bodyweight, age, and height to determine your norm in body size. It typically can reveal an estimate of your body fatness (fat mass) based on the norms you are associated with on the chart. It is a good measure to have when you want to get more information about your body size, especially if you are a little concerned with the questions "Am I too fat for my age?" or "Am I too fat for my height?"

The Convenience of Finding Your BMI

The good thing about measuring your BMI is that you can simply check it practically anywhere! There is a device that you can buy to measure your BMI at home, a Bioelectical Impedance Device; all you need is a scale or an estimate of your weight to punch into the device. Though it does sound a bit strange based on the name, this device WILL NOT SHOCK you! It only transmit a signal through your body like an ultrasound to calculate the amount of fat and muscle in your body.

A Concern...But Don't Worry!

Although measuring your BMI is convenient, be advised that IT DOES NOT MEASURE YOUR FAT ALONE. It also measures muscle mass. This means that the number that you see on the BMI measuring device may be incorrect in describing your fat content because of the dense, heavy muscles you have. ( Be advised, muscles don't have to be bulky to have high density (mass) — think about a person that is thin with very toned muscles)

Bottomline

You're going to love checking your BMI instead of consistently taking the time to measure and weigh yourself without knowing the norms. Using a convenient BMI measuring device will save you time and boost your confidence to exercise smart. Look below! You may find a scale bodyfat device more suitable and time effective—it's all in one.
